From AWS to SQL and Python, here are the top 10 most in-demand IT skills that U.S.-based companies are looking for in 2022, according to the 2022 Dice job report.

Employers in America are hungry for core technology skills around SQL, Python and Amazon Web Services as well as technologies who have mastered the nuances of Agile methodology, troubleshooting and software engineering, according to a jobs report covering the first half of 2022 from career website Dice.

Although some layoffs in the tech world have prompted questions about the state of the job market for tech talent, Dice says the hiring demands for skilled IT professionals is growing, not falling.

“Demand for tech talent has continued to grow throughout the first half of this year,” said Dice in its report.

Dice recently released the results of its 2022 Dice jobs report, which analyzed a whopping 3 million tech job postings in the United States between January and June of 2022 showing the top in-demand job postings in technology.

“Tech job postings saw month-over-month growth in the first five months of 2022, with June marketing the first decline in month-over-moth tech jobs since September 2021,” said Dice, adding that the dip in June was mostly due to a hiring spike in May 2022.

Non-Tech Companies Are Hiring IT Talent

Dice said companies not normally categorizes as a technology company, but are investing heavily in the space, continue to recruit and hire IT talent at a “rapid pace.”

“These gains outweighed the impact of hiring freezes and layoffs at tech-focused organizations,” Dice said.

Overall, demand for IT talent grew at a swift pace in the first half of 2022 with the number of job postings up 45 percent since the beginning of the year, and up 52 percent compared to the first half of 2021.
